I feel like this kind of negativity is rooted in the inherent competitive nature of our industry. We're always competing to be the best singer, performer, or teacher, and this kind of negativity is a kind of cheat code in this system. It's a bit like tripping a runner in a race. A negative comment in a master class isn't actually directed toward the student, but to that student's teacher in many situations.

I try to imagine that every time someone writes something down or turns to their neighbor, they are just so excited about what's happening. If I think this, then it makes it easier to make a connection with them, which is what our business is all about. You summed it up pretty well. Positivity begets positivity. It's tough to be an island in a sea of negativity, bit it's possible!Jarednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5178223962435056470.post-62401893193985846142014-07-10T08:09:34.709-07:002014-07-10T08:09:34.709-07:00Thanks!Thanks!Patrick Hansenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11860289047083002823noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5178223962435056470.post-68969913844189354422014-07-09T18:46:58.867-07:002014-07-09T18:46:58.867-07:00A lovely piece, Patrick!
